Griff was Here

5th of the day. Paige pooped out on me with this one so had to find it on my own. Pretty easy find. They gave a clue of "MH", which screwed me all up. There was a pole with a marker on it that had the MH on it. So I was all over that and the man hole by it looking for the cache. Well it wasn't there, it was still about 14ft away.
But I found it :)

Back Scratcher

Indeed it does look like a huge ass back scratcher. To funny. Went out today on my own to grab this one. Pretty easy find. I had a few people watching me, but I'm sure they have been wondering why people are inspecting this yellow railing lately.

Really look at it..It does look like a back scratcher!

I found it!

Took a geocoin to pass along to another cache.

No Climbing This "Ladder"

I use to come here almost every day when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter. Just sit and read and relax. That was 18 years ago. I have visited it off and on over the years and it still to this day makes me feel very relaxed. And I live so close to it so there's really no reason not to start visiting it more often :)

This was a small cache. Easy find. Except for a few people wandering around. There was this bum chilling at the location I needed to be. Protecting his shirt he had hanging over the railing. He really didn't pay to much attention to me so I made a quick grab while he faced the other way.

Enjoy the pictures of this wonderful day at the Fish Ladder.

Found it..

Had to ask someone to ask to take a picture of me at the fish ladder. Those self taking pictures are hard..lol

Those are some damn big sucker fish.. I wouldn't want to go swimming with them at all. I think I would drown on purpose so I wouldn't have to touch them..lol

A Campers Must

Spent today up in Reed City. They had an event going on. So of course had to do some geocaching while there.

This cache was in someones yard. Always feel funny doing those ones. But we went on the hunt
anyways. Now this cache container was a huge ammo box.

Tracy on the hunt..

But Paige found it!

Going through the goods!

Mourn the dead: Fight like hell for the living

Second one of the day in Reed City. This one obviously at a cemetary..
Paige was thinking she saw a ghost. So she just kept taking more and more
pictures just to try to catch something. To funny...

This one is the one she thought she caught something in it..Don't ask me where.

I found it!

W Marks the Spot

Third one of the day.

Now this one had my hopes up high cause I was it was suppose to have a travel bug in it that I wanted to snatch onto. But it wasn't there. It sucked... lol
But the geocache was cool.

Why Paige took a picture of her shoes I haven't a clue.. but hey with kids who knows why these days.. :)

On the trail to find the cache. Looks like it's going to be a long walk, but it turned out to be not to far. Wanted to look under the bypass but it wasn't that far.

Paige going in for the kill..

Paige found it. She made that awful face cause there was a huge spider on it, with webs and all..

Signing the log..

Tourist Trap

I do believe they named this one Tourist Trap cause of the road and where it's located. It took me a minute to figure out how to get to it. I'ts starts at the same place McDonalds starts, so that's what made it tricky.. Either that or we just looked like complete morons..lol

Where going in.. Paige always hates doing woodsy ones cause of the bugs. But she was a trooper today.

Could it be? ooooo I'm thinking so..

Yep I found it..

I placed Pokey in this cache.. so hope he gets many miles on him.

GR History #4- I-296

Want to know some GR History:

#4 - Interstate I-296

This cache is hidden next to I-296. A "secret" and unsigned Interstate Highway.

I-296 is 3.42 miles long connecting I-196 to the south with I-96 to the north.

It is one of the "Original Interstates" from the initial Interstate plans of the late-1950s. I-296 was built simply as a part of the already-proposed "Grand Rapids Expressway," which traces its roots back to plans in the late-1940s. In fact, by the time the I-296/US-131 freeway was opened to traffic, US-131 itself had been completed from M-43 in Kalamazoo northerly to downtown Grand Rapids.

The I-296/US-131 freeway completed the "Grand Rapids Expressway" north through the city to I-96 on the north side of town. From that point, the US-131 freeway would push on northerly over the next few decades past Cadillac.

I-296 was co-signed with US-131 until some point in the very late 1970s. The signs were then removed to minimize motorist confusion.
Adding to some of the interstate highway confusion in Grand Rapids:
- The first segments of present-day southerly I-196 from Grand Rapids to Holland were originally marked as I-96 and all of present-day northerly I-96 from Grand Rapids to Muskegon was opened as I-196 and for several years the freeway "inexplicably" changed numbers at today's Mile 37 on the east side of Grand Rapids. Sometime about 1963, the designations of I-96 and I-196 were swapped to their present-day alignments.
- Many people also mistake the I (for Interstate) as a 1 and vise-versa when referring to the interstates.

I-296 is still an "active" route designation and the 3.42 miles of US-131 from I-196 to I-96 is still an Interstate highway and qualifies for federal highway funds, even though there are no I-296 signs.

This section of freeway opened in 1962 and retained the I-296 designation until 1979. (The last Official Michigan Highway Map with I-296 indicated is the 1979 edition)

This cache is located near the Northern end of I-296. Please pay attention to the terrain rating...you DO NOT have to go down the hill.

This was a pretty easy find. But I just think it's cool that the rail is still there
after this long of time.

Found it!

Took a travel bug. His name is Pokey..
Wants to travel as much as possible to get miles to win.

DEWLOU'S STASH 7

Quiet little cemetery in the country. Ok that sounded kind of funny. Cemeterys
are normally quiet, but this one was just quiet.. lol

I thought this bench/head stone was so cool. Great idea!

Just as long as no "children of the corn" came crawling out of there I was good..lol

Found it..

Binary Graphics

I have been wanting to do this one for awhile now. Cause I have done all the ones around it, so it stuck out like a sore thumb when looking on the geo map.
Now the little question mark on the map was off of 3 mile and alpine, but not even
close to where the actual cache was. I had to figure out the mystery first which was this:

The cords where in there. Now I was told how to do this one and I did and had it right. So off I go. Now the gps kept getting me close by it, but I was still in the miles. Like .34ml. sort of thing. I'm driving around thinking ok I get this close but can't get any closer there has to be away. Then I remember there is a park by Petco on Alpine. Not to many know of it, but there is another geo in that park. So off I went and I was right. Now mind you I'm wearing white pants. Never ever do that when geocaching. A geo could be right out in the open and I'll still get dirty.
This cache was in a bit of woodsy part, but I went in anyways.. Got to theres a geo in there damn it.

Trying to get signal..

Into the park I go..

This was some "Blair Witch Shit"... that movie scares the shit out of me. At least
there was no body parts in there... Just the geo :)
